This chapter of my life story began almost 12 months ago. I was (and still am) on steroids for an eye condition and had put on a lot of weight. I was overeating comfort food, not sleeping, and caring for my aging mother who was living with me. I found myself at 109kg and on my 164cm frame, my BMI was over 40; I was obese. I was using a CPAP machine to help me breathe at night, with my specialist telling me I needed to lose weight for my health, and fast! I was even considering drastic weight loss surgery as I was sceptical of finding something else that worked after a lifetime of yo-yo dieting.
My sister was on The 1:1 Diet and was feeling amazing, which was proof enough for me that it worked, so I investigated the Plan. I found my Consultant, and now friend Tamara, and with her guidance and reassurance, I started my journey.
This program has so many choices for meal replacements. I was amazed at how filling they are and have never felt that I was missing out or looking for something more. Following the Steps is crucial to re-train your body, your metabolism, and your taste buds. The first few weeks were a challenge, as my body adjusted to a new way of eating, but as I followed the program, started walking, and spent time analysing my past eating habits, I felt better than I had in decades.
Even though the last few months have been particularly challenging due to my eyesight deteriorating and my mother starting palliative care, I have remained focused on my goals. I am more in control of my choices, and though there are still days that I struggle to make the best food decisions, The 1:1 Diet products and walking daily have given me the chance to learn more about myself and become confident for the first time in my life that I will not regain the weight. With the support of my family, friends, and Tamara, I have lost 37kgs. At nearly 62, I am the healthiest, happiest, and fittest I have ever been.
