I am 27 years old and have been working in the mining industry for the last nine and a half years.
At work, we have buffet breakfasts, whatever you feel like for lunch, buffet dinners, and don’t get me started on the desserts. This led to me pushing the scales at 158.1kg. At work, I found myself having to lie about how heavy I was because some of the machines had weight limits. Most were 120kg to 150kgs, and I found myself exceeding both! For me, my weight also affected my sense of self-worth. Just to be able to go to the beach and feel comfortable enough to take my shirt off has always been one of my top goals because I’ve always been too insecure to do it.
If something said weight loss on it chances are I had tried it. From pills, meals, other shake-based products, and spending hours and hours in the gym. It got to the point where my doctor recommended me to an obesity clinic to look into getting the gastric sleeve. I found the 1:1 Diet through my two uncles, Justin and Paul Scoullar. They were both finalists at SOY events and I thought if they can do it why couldn’t I. The main thing I found different about the 1:1 Diet was how convenient it was.
It didn’t matter where I was, I could always have a shake or a bar and it was easy to get the products on the plane when traveling for work. I found Cambridge was great with a balance of exercise and discipline. That doesn’t mean I didn’t have my bad weeks. It always seems to be someone’s birthday or there’s a gathering. The key is not to give up going to everything, but to eat before going and stay strong; it’s always your choice.
